When I went to the ER the other night, and the doctor had diagnosed me with whiplash (sprained neck and spine) they gave me an off-white ugly-ass cervical collar to help me hold my head straight and as still as possible, so it can heal more easily. Well, while it’s a necessary evil, it’s also damned uncomfortable. Count forward two days, and I ordered a BLACK ugly-ass cervical collar.
It arrived today and I couldn’t get it unboxed and switched out fast enough.
I was right. It’s much more comfortable than the original one, too. Much less abrasive against my jawbone. Plus, I prefer the color black. I can look like a formal twit while I’m out and about in the world.
Wouldn’t you want to be out in the best light possible?
I mean, who’d want to go out looking like your ordinary, garden-variety twit?
Not this girl!
I’m stylin’ now in my gorgeous black cervical collar! Look out world, Anna’s here!
Anyhow…back to the blog post at hand…
Saw the attorney yesterday about the four car accident I was in on January 30, 2018 yesterday. He was a decent fellow, and appeared to have a similar sense of humor to my own when I met him.
We signed all the retainer paperwork while we were there, and he is now representing both my daughter and me in regard to the accident. He told us that it could take a little while to get a satifactory settlement, and we agreed to take the time to make that happen. From everything I’ve read about whiplash, there can be lasting aftereffects, so I don’t want to make a spur of the moment settlement, and then discover that I’ve got more crap going on because of the accident.
After all of that and an unexpected brake repair job, I went to see my primary care physician. I had been going to a different office for the past couple years, so this was the first time he’d seen me since early 2016. I’ve had some dramatic changes in that time (beyond my fashionable cervical collar), so he was gobsmacked and said Very Nice Things about it, in between being shocked about the accident the other night.
Once we got over Old Home Week, he ordered a raft of x-rays to see what may have happened as a result of the accident, and which I should be able to have early this next week. Neck, spine, knees, and my ankle. He’s thorough, I must admit.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to get some writing done, but it’s difficult to do that at the moment, because of the pain I’m in. I can’t use NSAIDs to deal with the pain (and opiates tend to make me violentlyn I ill), so my doctor recommended marijuana, instead, which he insists is “better for you” than conventional drugs. I’ve trust him so far, so I’ll continue to follow his advice.
No, I’m not being precious about this. I’m serious, for a change.
I’ll keep you posted on how well the THC works in the pain department.
